The band’s tenth anniversary concert was held at the Prahran Town Hall. A receptive crowd enjoyed the sound of the band in this historic venue.
A number of former members returned especially for the concert, which was compered by band members who shared their experience of the band with the audience.
To help celebrate our anniversary, an exhibition of memorabilia was set up in the foyer for guests and band members alike to enjoy.
Highlights of the concert included the Sammy Nestico saxophone piece Persuasion; Lassus Trombone featuring six trombonists; the premier performance of the Saxophone Ensemble; and Julie Leder singing Big Spender and I Will Survive to tremendous applause.
The concert included “The Birthday Card”, a five minute short film featuring birthday wishes from past guest performers and our supporters. The film was made by Clare and Fiona, and is featured on our DVD of the concert.
The event ran very smoothly, including the setup and rehearsal during the day, as a result of the teamwork of the whole band.
