Carols By Queerlight Dec 04Our annual Christmas concert with the Melbourne Gay and Lesbian Chorus was once again held at Prahran Market.  Hosted by Kaye Sera and Luke Gallagher, the free community event was the biggest to date.  With an audience of approximately six hundred, Carols by Queerlight has now become a staple on the Gay and Lesbian Calendar.

Assistant musical director Stacey led the band on this occasion.  The band and chorus performed both individual and joint sing-a-long pieces for the audience to join together in the spirit of the Christmas event.

The event was organised directly with the Prahran Market. Restaurant Fresky sold food and drink to the audience, and sponsored the two groups a total of $500, contributing a small profit for the band and chorus.

The band performed at the annual fundraising ball held for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.  We entertained 300 ball guests on platform 7 at Flinders St Station with a range of our marching music while they waited to be taken to the ball on a train specially arranged by Connex.  With our music echoing throughout the station, the band drew a crowd of onlookers who enjoyed the free show!

We boarded the train with the ball guests, and serenaded them with the Loveboat Theme as we rode with them to Flemington Racecourse, where we opened the show with another short set.  The event drew excellent publicity for the band, with a half-page picture of band members appearing on the front page of BNews.
