Our 2010 Christmas Concert with the MGLC was a fantastic success – the best yet by all accounts.
Masterfully hosted by Melbourne performer and entertainer Luke Gallagher and Joy94.9 General Manager Danae Gibson, the event also featured special guest host Dolly Diamond. Dolly wowed the house with her performance of Hello Dolly (accompanied by MGLC) and Rolf Harris’ Six White Boomers with the MRB.
For Melbourne Rainbow Band members, the bittersweet highlight of the night was our performance of Pacem: A Hymn for Peace. It was our final solo piece conducted by Musical Director Mark Lyall, and was a beautiful sendoff for a tireless and enthusiastic leader. We thank Mark from the bottom of our hearts for his tremendous work over the past 3 years, and wish him all the best in the future.
The concert also featured the MRB performing Concert Suite from Polar Express, and the MRB and MGLC combining to perform the breathtaking Bells of Joy.
The event was broadcast live on JOY94.9, for which we received positive feedback from all around the world.
This was the 10th year that MRB and MGLC have presented Carols by Queerlight in partnership with the Prahran Market Management. Carols by Queerlight is our way to say Thank You to our supporters for attending our concerts, volunteering to help and assisting with fundraising. Without community support this year and in all the years past we wouldn’t exist.
